Question : I have a red bump on my face that keeps coming back. It is a raised bump, at first I thought it was a pimple that was under the skin. However, it never got a white head or popped. It lasts for about a week and a half and its swollen around the red bump. The swollen part is about a quarter in size. It finally goes away and about a week later it reappears, this is the third time it has came back. There is no pain with it. Could this be something serious? What can I do to make it go away for good?

Brief Answer:
Sebaceous cyst face

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have seen the attached picture.
You seem to have developed a lesion of sebaceous cyst .
It presents with development of a swelling under the skin which is movable and tends to appear at times with development of redness and swelling .
Such a skin lesion is harmless in most cases and can be left on its own .
Only when it is really bothersome , it can be treated with steroid injections or complete surgical removal .
For the time being ,you can take some anti inflammatory agent to reduce swelling .

Brief Answer:
Need to see a doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

I have seen the attached picture.
Sebaceous cysts can bet infected sometimes and present with swelling ,redness and pain .
They need to be managed by oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory agents .
So I would advise you to take some oral anti inflammatory agents like ibuprofen,if the swelling still tends to persist or increase ,see a nearby doctor for prescription .
