Question: I have been suffering from chest pains on in off it get worse when and if i eat. At first i thought it was just a simple heartburn like symptom that it go away with antacids-ive tried antacids they dont work. My symptoms are not anything similar to gastroenteritis. Its all throbbing like pains or just a sharp pain at times that spreads throughout my chest my hands sometimes but not always get numb and i get very dizzy very quickly ive had a few fainting spells. To the best of my knowledge im very healthy... I dont have any chronic conditions. My question in general is if i should see a specialist for these symptoms? Is it something i should worry about?

Brief Answer:
possible cervical spondylitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your query. I think I would be able to help you. The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of cervical spondylitis.

The pain in the chest and the numbness of the hands etc are all suggestive of the condition. You may or may not have neck pain associated with the other symptoms.

The best way to confirm the diagnosis is by getting a MRI cervical spine with screening of whole spine.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

Could these symptoms be attributed to a head injury? i was in a domestic violence situation many months ago. Also, at about age 7 i was in gymnastics i had a bad fall i landed on my head, and as a result my neck was injured from it. Never did I bring this matter to my parents attention for fear or loosing my place in the competitions-as a result from it i do recall severe almost excruciating pain to my neck and head... But these are the only injuries that i can possibly think of...Is your proffesional diagnosis, cervical spondylitis-associated in anyway to these previous injuries? i do experience alot of neck pain... Or is the cervical spondylitis something different? Thank you for your time

Brief Answer:
It's possible

Detailed Answer:
The possibility of cervical spondylitis secondary to head trauma is a definitive possible option that could have caused the problem. However, I cannot definitely comment on this since its an old injury and because there is no way I can assess the extent of the injury.

I will continue to suggest an MRI as suggested before after reviewing the new information that you have added.

Thanks for the response.
