Question : What could a recurring, non-painful lump on the mid thigh of a 17 y/o be a sign of if no trauma.

Lump has been there for about 4-5 weeks and unchanged.

It could be Lipoma.

Hi,

As per your description, the most common lump that fits your description is lipoma. It is painless.

The best thing you can do is to get an Ultrasound of the area.If the swelling is solid, get an FNAC ( Fine Needle aspiration Cytology ) of the swelling to establish diagnosis. Your local doctor will know about it. If needed, a color doppler is entailed to rule out hemangioma.

Though you will need aforementioned procedures to diagnose this condition, your description doesn't indicate an ominous problem. So don't be worried.
