What Causes Recurring Painful Lumps In Pubic Area?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 May 2016
Question: I have been getting lumps in my pubic area in the crease of my belly apron flap. They hurt when pressed and are about the size of a marble. They come and go. Sometimes they break open and bleed, or emit a clear fluid. At first I thought they might be ingrown hairs, but they are occurring more frequently now. Usually last a week or so. What are these things? How can they be prevented? Are they harmful?

have queries :

What are these things?
> These are most probably recurring folliculitis. By virtue of the area being more prone to friction, less aeration can be more prone to blocked ducts of the glands of the skin and more prone to infection.

How can they be prevented?
> These can be prevented by washing the area with liquid povidone iodine at least twice a day to keep the area sterile. Since there is secondary infection some oral antibiotic can help in control of the infection and spread. But you need a valid prescription for antibiotics. Multivitamins help to have better strength to the skin and can help resistance to the infection.

Are they harmful?
> Harmful, yes, they are as they remain the source of infection in the body and sometimes can cause the spread to the blood or other area.

Please give some additional information for me assist you better:
Since when have you got this problem?
Do you diabetes or any other medical problem?
Is the sweating more in affected area?
Any itching or similar problem at any other part of your body or your family members?
If possible, please post clear photographs as they help for on-the-spot diagnosis.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to give feedback and ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
