Brief Answer: Red eye can be because of infection or allergy. Detailed Answer: Hello It seems from the history that your colleague is having red eyes. Red eyes is a common clinical problem and the main causes are allergies and infections. If there is redness with discharge then it is most probably infective conjunctivitis and treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops. If there is redness with itching then it is probably because of allergic conjunctivitis and treatment is by use of anti allergic eye drops. Hence as of now he can start antibiotic eye drops like ciprofloxacin and depending on the response he can take further treatment. If the redness is associated with severe pain and blurring of vision he needs to consult ophthalmologist. Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you. Thank you
