What Causes Red, Hot Swelling After Knee Meniscectomy?

Question: I have red hot spot on the upper lateral side of my knee following knee menisecectomy? It is red, swollen and hot to the touch. What is going on?

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Whenever patient has symptoms like you after surgery the most common cause is infection.
To help you better please share-
1.How much is the pain and are you able to sleep ?
2.When was the operation done?
3.Are you taking any antibiotics?
Meanwhile continue with rest, ice fomentation and antibiotics.

Surgery was on October 3, 2014. Yes, that is what we thought. We have been monitoring the hot spot. Has not grown much but became tender today...Today we visited the Physician's Assistant and received a DX of cellulitis and was prescribed an antibiotic called CEPHALEXIN. Thank you for your reply.

I have gone through your reply and beside antibiotics they must have advised to take drug trypsin/chymotrypsin to reduce swelling and speedy recovery.
