                                            Question : Hi Doctor.
I had used Melacare cream for about 3 nights only. I usually apply the cream before bed and let it stay until morning which gives about 9-10 hours for the cream to act on my skin. My neighbour had used it for fairness and it was prescribed for her skin treatment. Melacare was not prescribed for me. As soon as i stopped using this cream, I got burns, itching and rashes that were red in the beginning and now turned black near my mouth and eyes. Every night I develop a burning sensation and in the morning i wake up with a new rash. I consulted a dermatologist and told her my problem. She prescribed cutisoft cream that also has a steroid in it. I am confused if i should use that or not. During the day, a new part of my face starts itching and rashes develop only at night. I need help and advice

Detailed Answer:
Hi, welcome to Healthcare magic,
First of all stop using melacare cream. You have applied this in large quantity that is why you are getting side effects. Some times small quantity also causes side effect.
It is the hydroquinone and tretinoin in melacare cream which causes side effect and not the steroid.
Your consultant has rightly prescribed cutisoft cream. Apply it twice daily till the symptoms subsides.
I will also advise you to apply emollient 2-3 times a day and strict avoidance of Sun.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks
