What Causes Red/purple Bruising On Thigh After An Injury?

Got a question about my thigh injury. I fell down pretty hard while biking and mostly landed on my right thigh. It was really sore for the next several days, but really no bruising, even though it hurt a lot. Today, I noticed in the morning that that area turned completely red/purple, and it's a little bigger than my fist. Any concerns about this? Will this go away by itself? Right now it still hurts a bit, and it kind of feels warm.
it is colletion of blood
Detailed Answer:
hello,
I have studied your case and I can assure you that it is nothing very serious. Because of that fall you have injured your muscles and there is collection of blod in subcutaneous plane and it is called as hematoma.
In most of the cases it get absorb by its own it two to three weeks. In my patients with similar complains I have following suggestions.
1. Hot water fomentaion
2. Tablet Etoricoxib one daily
3. Any broad spectrum antibiotic to prevent secondary infection. My preference is amoxyclav
4.Compression bandage to that part so that there is no further spread.
If this swelling does not decrease in size then you can get a ultrasound guided needle aspiration of that blood. But it is mostly not needed.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
