Brief Answer:
Needs assessment, Sounds innocuous

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. COld sores heal completely after completing its five phases in maximum 10 days. So any thing like red spot or sore present for that long to three months can be looked for other etiologies.

It is possible some how that the skin color change takes some time to get back to normal on the place where previous sore was. Now that depends upon many factors like skin complexion, healing power, any other skin condition like eczema and any associated morbidity etc.

It needs to be correlated for contact reaction, rosacea or adult acne too. Only way to know for sure is a consult to a dermatologist. They will have a look and decide what it is. It sounds innocuous from the description though. Hope for the best.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

May the odds be ever in your favour.

Regards
Khan
