I can understand your concern for the red spots on the shins and possibility of secondary syphilis in the same.

Let me first reassure you fully that there are no any signs of secondary syphilis in your case and are simple proliferation of the oil glands only.

To tell you simply about syphilis it occurs within 9 to 90 days of the unprotected sex. In most of the cases of syphilis these patients develop one or more sores which are small painless ulcers. These sores are on the genitals or in or around the mouth somewhere between 10-90 days. It is a button like sore (ulcer) with characteristic firm or indurated (firm to hard) margins which is typically painless.

In secondary stage of syphilis which begins within six weeks to six months after the painless sore. Those persons who have secondary syphilis experience a rosy rash or coppery red rash typically on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet along with rest of the body areas too.

You can make out that you do not have such kind of lesions so just relax for the possibility of syphilis.

In your picture you can make out that there are no any signs of any rosy rash or coppery red rash. Also to add that secondary syphilis rash never occurs on sole site of shin only and is wide spread all over body as guided above.

The present problem in yourself is simple inflammation of oil gland and hair root.

Additionally to tell you more importantly that in today's modern era, syphilis is in quite down hill trend and therefore the cases of syphilis exposure are on least of side.

So I fully reassure you that you do not have syphilis and rest assured for any rarest of rare possibility of syphilis.

You must now completely relax regarding rest of any issues and should not give any second thoughts.

I have gone through the pictures with diligence and interpreting the same I reassure you completely that you do not have any thing miles close to syphilis.


You are correct in your understanding that syphilis rash occurs as generalised rash and never occur at single site.

This is not even dermatitis and are just excoriated marks which you have scratched. These can be managed by simple application of a mild steroid based creams such as hydrocortisone or Fluticasone cream.

I reassure you completely that you do not have syphilis.
