Posted on Tue, 9 Sep 2014
Question: Hi,
Red dots appears on my 2 years and 9 months daughter after 7 days of taking medicine called "Augmentin". Within one night only, these red dots developed on the whole skin. We visited a doctor and prescribed "Clara" and a lotion "Calamine".
-Do we continue apply the lotion?
-Are there any natural products to apply instead of this lotion?
- Is coconut oil helpful in this case?
Please send me your email in order to send you the photos.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
drug reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the question and photographs.
She might have developed an allergic reaction to augmentin.
Please stop it.
Calamine lotion Is fine as it keeps the skin cool.
It is a natural product so you don't need to worry.
It will be better if she can be given an antihistamine syrup also.
Please discuss with the treating doctor regarding this.
Keep a watch on the skin changes. If there is any increase in rashes she must be taken to hospital.
Also remember not to use augmentin again. The reaction might be severe next time.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Development of rashes in soft sensitive area is quiet common in drug hypersensitivity.
Apply aloevera lotion or any other moisturiser. She will soon recover.
