What Causes Red Spotting After A Partial Hysterectomy?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Jul 2017
Question: I have had a partial hysterectomy years ago. Last evening, in the middle of the night when urinating, I had some spotted bright red blood. I have not had it since then. Also, this corresponded with a feeling of needing to urinate multiple times, similar to a UTI. I have not had one in many years. What could this be from?

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis needs to be confirmed

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through the question and understand the concerns.
Please clarify whether the blood spots were in urine or from vagina.
This is because both have different causes.
Bleeding or spotting after the partial hysterectomy can be due to lesions of the cervix, polyp or vaginal lesions or infection.
Urinary tract infection can also present with blood in urine due to excessive infection or stone in the urinary tract.
I will suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist for proper internal examination, investigations including pap smear, vaginal swab for infection , urine routine and microscopic examination, and get the further treatment accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

The blood was in the urine. Hysterectomy was 7-8 years ago. Ive had no pain with these symptoms and they have all subsided for now, since about 3:00-4:00am.
