Question: The end of my nose is red swollen and painful. This has been going on for several days. Today it is very large red and painful. I have tried saline spray but doesn't seem to help. I hope it isn't staph. I am 29 year old male in general good health. Can you help me? There doesn't seem to be any pus visible the inside of my nose is also painful to touch. It has spread to the right of my nose and under my right. eye.

1. From your description, this seems to be a cellulitis / vestibulitis spreading from the nose to the cheek below the eye. It will be helpful if you can upload a close-up image.

2. This area of the nose is part of the 'dangerous area of the face' as the blood drains to the eye and brain, unlike the rest of the face.

3. Hence I would urge you to seek immediate medical attention. Treatment may consist of oral or intavenous antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, local ointments, a nasa swab for culture (to rule out staph) and blood tests to rule out decreased immunity (such as blood sugar tests).
