What Causes Redness And Blisters On Penile Shaft?

Question: I am over 60 and have not had any type of sex for over 3 months, last week I woke up with a redness on the shaft of my penis and later that day I had a patch of blisters pop up, the blisters went away the same day, but the redness stayed and also became flaky yesterday. I feel no pain and have no problem urinating, should I be concerned?

According to your history there are few conditions presenting with blisters over the penile shaft.
It can be due to herpes infection, drug reaction or irritant contact dermatitis.

I need to ask you few questions before arriving at the diagnosis:
Is there previous history of blisters over the penis?
Are you taking medicines for some other ailment?
History of diabetes or any other disease?
History of application of any chemical or substance on the penis?

Since the reaction has already settled you need not worry but we need to know the cause so that it doesn't recur in the future. If possible, please upload a photograph so that I am better able to help you.
