Posted on Wed, 23 Sep 2015
Question: My daughter is 33 years old and pregnant. Last year she had surgery for a papilloma in her breast duct. She healed fine and there were no complications. However, now that she is pregnant she is seeing a redness and a scab where the surgery was.
Her doctor is currently on vacation wuntil the end of Septemeber and had told her it should not be a concern. However she reads the internet constantly and it has scared her. Should she be concerned about this

Brief Answer:
Not worrisome now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
During pregnancy it is normal for the breast tissue to undergo hypertrophy under the influence of hormones. If the papilloma was completely removed then the mild redness and scabbing can be due to a local inflammation. It should subside with a hot compress.
However if there is an active discharge and the redness increases then she needs to consult a gynecologist for an examination and antibiotics if needed.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

She told me there was a yellow crust and enlarged pores, I told her what you mentioned in the previous answer. Would I be correct. Just part of the pregnancy
