What Causes Redness And Soreness In The Ankles?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Nov 2017
Question: I had extreme water rention in my feet, ankles and lower shins. I was on a vacation where I was sitting a lot, on a plane, on a train but only for 2 or 3 days. Then we walked around the hotels, towns but then we were on a bus frequently. I tell you this so you know the probable cause. But my question is this: now that water retention is almost gone, I have extreme soreness, redness, fine red lines extending from the redness and where the redness is the skin is rough. Can you explain this phenomena. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Due to swelling and muscle soreness.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After the swelling subsides it is normal for the skin to become rough. The soreness in the area can be a muscle soreness due to electrolyte imbalance. The red skin also suggests a mild inflammation and it will gradually subside on its own.
I hope this answers your query.
