Question : I noticed that one of my freckles has a red scaly/dry ring around it today. It does not hurt. It is not swollen. Is this cause for concern?

                                    Brief Answer:
Kindly send few good resolution pictures
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.
I can understand your concern for the redness around the freckle.
I tried to analyze the area at its best but the picture became blurred on magnification at higher resolution.
In dermatological problems it is utmost important to see the exact entity. Therefore I request you to kindly upload few good resolution close up pictures of the affected area.
hope to hear soon from your side.

                                    Brief Answer:
No abnormality; just normal process
Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,
welcome again to the forum and thanks for uploading pictures for ready reference.
After thoroughly analyzing the pictures and correlating with your history I first of reassure you that there is nothing abnormal in your area of freckle (or lentigen to be precise).
The dryness and scaling can be a normal process and these changes are not considered abnormal. There is a second possibility of mild fungal infection due to which the same kind of picture is observed. But it is too early to diagnose the condition as fungal infection.
It is of utmost importance if at all you feel any color change or any burning, itching or pain along with increase in size of the pigmented area. As there is no related symptom of any burning, itching or pain so there is nothing to be worried about.
You can apply a plane moisturizing cream for 2-3 times over the dry area. Keep the area sun protected and covered.
I will be glad to answer any further queries or if not then can close the discussion and rate the answer.
