Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: I have a very bloodshot half of an eye. I did not injure it. I tried eye drops to relieve redness which have worked in the past They did not help. I have never had this type of problem before. I tried calling my ophthalmologist and she is not available.

Brief Answer:
Hemorrhage

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
As there is only redness and no pain this is likely to be what is known as sub conjunctival hemorrhage. This occurs due to rupture of blood vessels which occurs due to sudden rise of pressure due to cough, constipation or straining or due to intake of drugs like aspirin.
This resolves on its own in a week or 10 days time and as such is not a cause of worry.
Please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
