Question : I am taking tamsulosin hydrochloride. On Monday and Tuesday I had only a couple of beers and today only urinated once or twice. Can the two be connected? Also how long does it take for tamsulosin to work

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Beers are diuretic. They cause loss of fluid within 1-2 hours.
2. Tamsulosin is an alpha blocker and it helps in the smooth passage of urine.
3. Because of beers, you might have lost more fluid, resulting in less urination today.
4. Not to worry, you need to take more fluids for better urination. You are dehydrated and hence passing less urine, both in frequency and volume.
5. Tamsulosin starts to act within 1-2 hours. It works on a day to day basis.
