Question: How long will I feel restlessness in my body after taking hydrocodone since 2012 (about 1 a day)?

I am so sorry to hear about this restlessness that you have reported. Your question is not very clear to me. I will like to know for how long you took this medications as it is very unlikely to have withdrawal symptoms if it were taken just for a day. Or, are you trying to say it has been 1days since these symptoms started?

I have taken the hydrocodone since 2012 when I had a total knee replacement and I took it once a day at night for pain every day ever since then. The last time I took a hydrocodone was 4/13/16 and I have been restless every night since then and even during the days I am somewhat restless when I am sitting on break at work etc. Is there anything I can do or take to remedy this restlessness? I am miserable. I also take the generic medicine of Abilify and this is or my schitzsophrenea (SP?) and I know that it has a side effect of restlessness and inability to sleep also so I am between a rock and a hard place. thanks in advance for your help on this matter.

Hi,

Please tell your doctor not to stop this drug cold turkey. He has to withdraw you from taking it slowly. I will suggest he gets you back on this drug and slowly wean you off. Otherwise, this is the poorest approach trying to stop taking hydrocodone after having taking for several years. Keep me updated.

Do I take one every other day or every two days or how do I wean myself off hydrocodone?

Today I feel a little better as it is the 5th day since I took a hydrocodone. I don't feel as restless as I did the last 5 days. I even took a short nap today after work so does this mean that I am almost home free from being hooked on hydrocodone?

It's about 11pm on the same day that I took that nap in the afternoon and I am back having these restless feelings again. I can't relax or sleep. I guess I jumped the gun on thinking that I was over the worst part of withdrawal from hydrocodone. I'll wait for your answer to the questions above, thanks in advance for your help on this.

Hi and thanks for this follow up.

I will say get back on the drugs and progressively reduce the dose. You may start by taking one every other day, then move to every three days, then every 4days until we start feeling you can stay away from this.
