Question : Hello,

This is for my cousin who is pregnant now.. Her age is 28.. She is in her sixth month and says she gets pain at times on her right side of the abdomen.. Is this normal during this time as it is not continuous? Any solution for this issue..

Hi,

It is not uncommon to get such intermittent abdominal pain. Sometimes this type of pain is associated with pregnancy, but at times, the pain may not be related to pregnancy. It may be related to gastritis, her medications or other bowel conditions. A physical evaluation is necessary to determine the cause of pain.

Hence I will urge her to discuss about this pain during her next antenatal check up visit.
