Question : Hello, I fell several days ago and landed mostly on the right side of my chest. I've been hoping ibuprofen and limited use would help but the pain went from "only when I moved a certain way" to discomfort most all of the time. Should I ice it? More ibuprofen? Just wait a few more days?
Brief Answer:
Hot compress will help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
This seems to be a soft tissue injury. You need to do a hot compress take an oral muscle relaxant and use a chest belt to provide an extra support and rest to the area so that it can heal well. Do take an analgesic like Ibuprofen as and when needed for the time being.
I hope this answers your query.

Thank you for your advice.....the heat definitely makes it feel better and I will try the chest belt this week. I want to clarify that it is the area just under my breast that hurts and coughing or sneezing is definitely painful. Is there a time frame of sorts for how long I should treat at home if there is no improvement?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Brief Answer:
You can wait for 5-7 days.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can treat at home for 5-7 days and in case there is an increase in swelling or difficulty in taking breath then do consult a physician. Pain with cough and sneezing will take 2 - 3 weeks to subside.
Hope my answer is helpful.
