Question : Pain in my upper right side-just under ribs- through to my back. Wakes me up in the middle of the night. Gallbladder removed in 2011, but the pain is similar.

Thanks for asking in HCM.

Pain in right quadrant below ribs is generally due to bile stones. But as you are saying it is already removed so this cause is unlikely.

It can be due to some other pathologies like stone in billiary ducts.,peptic ulcers etc.

So better to go for whole abdomen ultrasound (USG Abdomen) to rule out above etiologies.
