Brief Answer:
The medicines are alright, if the diagnosis is otitis media...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through your query thoroughly and I do understand that your doctor could have diagnosed you as having Otitis media (inflammation of the middle ear).

If the diagnosis is correct, you can continue with the prescibed medicines. The amoxycillin-clavulanic acid 625mg has to be taken 3 times a day, instead of twice daily. Rest you can continue with same. Also, you can try using saline nasal spray which can keep your nasal mucosa moist and relieve the Eustachian tube (the tube connecting nose and the ear) block.

Drink plenty of warm water. Warm water reduces the congestion in the nose and the ears. Tolpa -D can be used for your earache and headache.

Hope this answers your query; revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.

Hi Doctor

Thanks for the reply .

I am facing ringing ears from atleast 3 years.
Doctor told i have bad DNS ( can be from birth time)
Deviated towards right nostril

How does this DNS affect ears and sinus and brain
Does this DNS significantly cause headache at times?
Or due to the ear problem that i have causes headache?
I have bit of facial pain too. Moderate levels
I am taking venlift od 75 mg from 12 + years does that adds to ringing ears / headache
My wife took a video , of the right ear , there is redness in the right ear , in left ear there is no redness , it appears ok.
What is the main cause of ringing ears , tinnitus , redness , otitis of ears ?

What are the lab tests to be done to check related to Ears, nose, throat are fine?

Regards,

Brief Answer:
DNS can cause facial pain and headache...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome back

1. How does this DNS affect ears and sinus and brain. Does this DNS significantly cause headache at times? Or due to the ear problem that i have causes headache?

A: DNS causes narrowing of the nostril. The narrowing can lead to nasal block during an attack of flu or nasal allergy. If the deviated septum is gross and touching the side wall, can cause facial pain and headache. Secondly, the deviated septum can also cause sinus and Eustachian tube blockage leading to headache, ear block and tinnitus.

2. I have bit of facial pain too. Moderate levels

A: Facial pain could be secondary to grossly deviated nasal septum touching the lateral wall or sinus blockage.

3. I am taking venlift od 75 mg from 12 + years does that adds to ringing ears / headache

A: Venlafaxine can cause headache. It is one of the know side effects.

4. My wife took a video , of the right ear , there is redness in the right ear , in left ear there is no redness , it appears ok. What is the main cause of ringing ears , tinnitus , redness , otitis of ears ?

A: The congestion in the right ear drum is because of the Eustachian tube blockage. The negative pressure thus induced in the middle ear can cause ringing in the ears (tinnitus).

5. What are the lab tests to be done to check related to Ears, nose, throat are fine?

A: Get an Otoendoscopy and Nasal endoscopy done for a complete evaluation of the nose and the ears. Secondly, the audiological investigations such as pure tone audiometry and tympanometry can aid in the diagnosis of the tinnitus.

Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
Acute otitis media...

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome back

I have examined the images thoroughly and I am of the opinion that you are having Acute otitis media and the antibiotic you are on is not effective in curing this.

I would suggest you the following:
1. Request your doctor to change your antibiotic - probably second generation cephalosporin such as cefuroxime, will be highly effective.
2. Xylometazolin nasal drops has to be used 3-4 times a day followed by steam inhalation. Steam inhalation will help in relieving the Eustachian tube congestion and its very important.
3. Try taking medicine containing pseudoephedrine. This will relieve the congestion around the Eustachian tube and reduce the pressure in the middle ear.
4. An anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen can help in alleviating the pain.
5. Drink frequent sips of warm water. Warm water increases the blood circulation and relieves the inflammation.

Hope this will be effective in treating your problem.
