What Causes Ringing In Ears?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Oct 2014
Question: Feeling like s---. I slept last night but feel pooped I have to make myself type this. If I hadn't taken my .5 mg Lorazepam, I'd be feeling (lightheaded? dizziness without actually being dizzy?), with funny feeling in my head with random waves of... feeling like I wanna pass out without passing out. I am sick of this. Thinking about killing myself if I have to just suck it up and live with this. Throw my life back in God's face with a mouthful of curses.

Without the Lorazepam I'd feel that wave of (zoning out? wanting to pass out?) when I got up after sitting for about a hour.

When I wake up I got ringing in the ears. For months now. It becomes quiter as I go about my day.

Meniere's Disease?

Or, bulging herniated disks in my neck, or Severe Spondylosis?

Would pulsed electromagnetic field therapy help, or only a bottle full of sleeping pills. Hell, I don't think even Doctor Oz could cure this!

I take anti anxiety pills because the doctor said it deadens the nerve activity causing my (dizziness? feelings like I wanna zone pass out?) Any anti-anxiety meds that also deadens the nerve pains from my neck that would ALSO not make me tired all day OR MAKE ME GAIN WEIGHT? I'd rather kill myself than have to get fat.

Brief Answer:
What you probably need are vestibular sedatives.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for writing to healthcaremagic with your problems.

I can only guess the kind of mental trauma you might be going through to have written the way you have written above. I can understand your difficulty.

From this query of yours and other previous discussions you have had with our experts I suspect the main cause for your symptoms is depression related or vestibular dysfunction.

My suggestion for you at this moment is, please, please see a psychiatrist as early as possible and get yourself evaluated for depression and discuss the possibility of fibromyalgia syndrome (doesn't usually affect males, but you never know).

Apart from depression which is quite evident from your description, I also suspect an inner ear problem, most likely a problem with how the fluid in the vestibule flows, the condition is called BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), this needs to be evaluated by an ENT surgeon and vestibular sedatives like cinnarazine or chlorpheniramine will help and the central nervous sedative effect of these medicines is mild and wanes off gradually, so these could be better suited in your case.

Please discuss these concerns with your treating doctor and trust me, doctors will help you, there is hope. Don't even think about ending life as that is a permanent solution for a temporary problem.

I hope you will find my response useful, do write back to me update me about your progress.

Wishing you all the best and speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Thanks immensely for writing back.

Are vestibular sedatives compatible with the s---loads of meds I take daily? I am a legalized junkie, you might say.

CAN I be normal again? Live a happy, active lifestyle again? I GOT SO MUICH I want to do with my life. I haven't been a rapper yet. I haven't got the cosmetic surgeries I want to be please with my appearance yet! I haven't LIVED! It's too soon for me to die, er I mean retire to middle age rocking chairs!

Here are some videos demonstrating my, I don't know, trying to life myself up outta this hell to a higher plane of existence in my mind.

Video TRYING to get Doctor Oz's attention: maybe if I make them see how desperate my condition is the NYC police will arrest me and, in the process of processing, getting their top-of-the-line doctors to evaluate me, maybe I can be CURED at last, maybe even get off some of these meds I am on. No, I have absolutely no intention of doing what I talk about in the video, but they don't know that.

If I was a star I could easily get my condition diagnosed and eliminated! Money talks.
If I was XXXXXXX Rodgers I could get a cure, albeit in a psych ward next stop prison.
I had rather spend 10 years in prison and come out feeling my happy normal self than live 100 years like THIS, even with the record deal and girls screaming my name!
The average XXXXXXX well, nobody cares about him because what has he got for THEM? THEY worship the stars and THEY enjoy a good horror story like XXXXXXX Rodgers and what makes the murderer tick.

This VIDEO: copy and paste link in browser. http://youtu.be/BUELzrQuc8k

PLEASE pay attention to all the symptoms I describe in a day in my life lately.

I want to LIVE! I am tired of these symptoms day and night whispering in my ear that I will die one day, be it in a few years or a hundred. I do not want to have to think about dying till it's time to die. I am TERRIFIED of death being the end. Near death experience, I have found to my dismal chagrin, are the dying brain's response to annihilation! I am doing a video on what is actually happening.

Could this BPPV be causing me to feel pooped? Can it be treated, or even cured?

Why does anti-anxiety medicine seem to relieve the (dizziness?) and waves of zoning out in my head?

What could've caused me to get BPPV?

Brief Answer:
Vestibular sedatives might help you

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for writing back to me with further details.

From your description, I strongly feel the main problem that is causing all the symptoms in you is depression/anxiety.

The one thing that needs to be considered is the possibility of dizziness being a separate entity, in which case the vestibular sedatives I mentioned should invariably help you regain your normal life.

I can understand the financial constraints that might be contributing to the mental agony, unfortunately there is no easy way around it as you have rightly said.

I once again urge you to consult with your psychiatrist as well as an ENT specialist to evaluate you fully so that unwanted medicines can be cut down.

I am limited in my capacity to help you by the fact that this is an online forum where direct interaction is not possible nor feasible, keeping this in mind, I have suggested you to get looked at by a psychiatrist and ENT specialist for further course of action.

Hope that will help you. Please feel free to write back to me if you need to discuss anything at all.

Wishing you good life.

Kind regards.

Now I tell you more about me.

I had MRI's which diagnosed me with herniated bulging disks in my neck and lumber spine. Explains the muscle spasms and right arm tingling, chils I had to take Cyclobenzaprine for. Physical therapy did little, if anything.

I have had two epidural injections into my lower back so far. The first made me noticeable better. after the second, however, it made me more back towards how I used to feel. Not as good as I did after the first.

Why? Will the third finally improve me for good?

Will epidural injections into my neck eliminate these very unpleasant symptoms?

Every time I exercise at the gym I go home feeling unusually fatigued for the day. Why?
My reflexes slower.

Can I EVER be normal again?ALSO, could the disks in my neck be affecting the vision in my right eye?

I first noticed something about my right eye's peripheral vision in the spring of 1last year, before my stroke on Thanksgiving Day.

Now, every time I wake up my vision has to "adjust". I have trouble reading, or even reading stuff on my computer monitor. My eyes have to "warm up" so to speak. At night, when I am at my computer playing computer spades, it tended to exacerbate my right eye vision.

Can I ever have my perfect vision back? Laser surgery?

Glasses helps, but I still notice something about my right-eye's inability to completely focus.

Oh and when I have the spells of (dizziness?), my vision focus diminishes. It's like I cannot focus whats in front of me because everything else around me.

You still there?

You haven't given up on me?

I know I sound crazed but I am just in desperate need of simple answers. THIS is not so much killing me as NOT KNOWING WHAT THIS IS is what's really killing me?

PLEASE don't forget to read the above two query responses I wrote days ago.

Brief Answer:
Stroke explains much of your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

I apologize for the delay in responding to your further queries.

Thank you very much for coming back with further information.

From your history, I suspect the reason for your visual symptoms is the stroke, this can't be improved much if that is in fact the case.

Another epidural might relive your symptoms for a while with regards to your bulging disks, but mind you, epidural injections are not a permanent cure or solution to your problem.

Cervical disk bulges are quite difficult to treat and you will benefit from a surgical correction, unfortunately we do not have less invasive methods to solve this problem.

This problem of disks is specific to human beings because we evolved to stand upright which means we have a vertebral column that has to bear too much weight for too long and that is going to take a toll on it.

Regular exercise and proper weight management will reduce the progress of this issue, so you should concentrate on that.

Your mental status will also be affected because of the stroke, which in my opinion is playing a major role in your ill health.

I have read through all your responses before writing this response, but as I see it, there are no easy answers to your problems and I am limited in my capacity to help you any further than this due to the fact of not being able to physically examine you.

Talk to your treating doctor, explain all your concerns, I am sure they will find a way to help you out.

I hope this will be of some use to you.

Kind regards
