Question : I find myself having to wipe my butt a couple of times a day due to what appears to be runny stool. Each time I wipe, there is brown stool on the toilet paper. This has been going on for a few years now and seems to be getting worse. It seems to be worse upon exertion. I have been too embarrassed to see a doctor, but want to do something to get it taken care of if possible because it is becoming a nuisance. I am a 45 year old male in otherwise good health. I was sick a few years ago and after a series of tests, it was determined that I just had some sort of virus. This condition began around the same time.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking on HCM!

You are reporting to have had runny stools with brown stools and need to weep a couple of times a day.

To my opinion you need to be examined with:
- colonoscopy
- anal manometerY TEST to rule out anal incontinence.
It would be great if you can send me a photo of the stools so I can check the color by myself.
Your symptoms doesn't seems to be related with viral infection few years ago.
Hope it was helpful to you!
