Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Let me try to give you some ideas. You are a healthy man with no heart conditions or diabetes? Let me tell you that it is not unusual to feel moody exhausted and weak at your age.
You said nothing about your diet. Are you eating fresh fruits and vegetables? Do you have adequate calcium and vitamin D? You need the B vitamins every day for your energy levels to be adequate. The ones I worry about the most with fatigue are B12 and folic acid. If unusually fatigued, it is always good to get a check-up and a blood test for presence of anemia or underlying causes.
Now, if you are eating well, clearly active, you may benefit from an adaptogenic herb. This is an herb which helps your body cope with high stress yet provide an energy unlike that from a stimulant. My favorite herb is Ashwagandha. Ginseng tea is also used for this effect. In fact, Ashwagandha is frequently referred to as “Indian ginseng” because of its rejuvenating properties, even though botanically, ginseng and Ashwagandha are unrelated.
Ashwagandha contains many useful medicinal chemicals, including withanolides (steroidal lactones), alkaloids, choline, fatty acids, amino acids, and a variety of sugars. While the leaves and fruit have valuable therapeutic properties, the root of the Ashwagandha plant is the part most commonly used in Western herbal remedies.
The typical recommended dose is 600 to 1,000 mg. twice daily. For people who suffer from insomnia and anxiety, having a cup of hot milk that contains a teaspoon of powdered Ashwagandha before bedtime is beneficial.
Try some gentle stretching exercises, a hot bath using aromatherapy or Epson salts, and have the doctor check your magnesium levels.
Remember, always keep your personal care physician in the loop of any self-treatment.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
