What Causes Scabs On Leg While Treating Hives?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Mar 2016
Question: I have been dealing with hives for some time. They seem to appear after or during exercise. I have been taking zertex to ease them.
Yesterday, I noticed that I had scabs on both legs from thigh to calf. They itch like haves but look different.
Is there anything that you can suggest?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
CONSIDERATIONS

Detailed Answer:
Hello & thank you for submitting your question.

The symptoms you describe sound as if you might possibly be suffering from exercise-induced urticaria, or a form
of exercise induced skin allergy. If this is indeed the diagnosis, then some things you can try include abstaining from exercise four to six hours after eating and avoiding using aspirin and NSAIDs before a work out. Medical therapy may include antihistamines, or mast cell stabilizers, depending on the severity of symptoms. It is possible you may also have a superimposed skin infection with the hives. If the area does not clear up after exercise and remains red, or swollen, blistered or painful, or starts to ooze or peel, please see your physician for a physical examination and assessment of your need for a possible topical therapy. In the meantime, supportive therapy such as anti histamine cream or hydrocortisone cream might help. Keep the area clean and covered.

I hope this helped answer some of your questions.
