default
Posted on Thu, 1 Oct 2015
Question: ok I do not have pageants disease multiple sclerosis problems with deposition no diseases at all. I had a previous foot fracture that healed just fine. why would sclerotic bone formation occur instead of call us formation? my doctor said it started to heal after five weeks but not with call us formation but with sclerotic bone. I do not have any type of bone disorders calcium difficency or vitamin k or vitamin d deficiency. no cancer nothing at all. if he said it was starting to heal with sclerotic bone formation wouldn't this have shown up on my x ray by c-arm on the day of surgery 12/6/2013 and wouldn't this have shown up on the 12/4/2013 mri scan?

Brief Answer:
Usually mild sclerosis occurs in healing of fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

I understand that this query is a Follow up of your previous question which I had answered.

Usually after fracture heals, the callus gets calcified and appears sclerotic.

Sometimes if massage is done then Myositis ossificans can occur. This is also a calcified mass witch gets formed around an area of trauma after massaging.

It would be helpful if you could upload the Xray picture for me to be in a better position to help you.

This will not show up on the day of surgery but occurs after healing, after which it may be seen on C Arm or MRI.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Raghu

Brief Answer:
May need revision of surgery

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

I have reviews all your Reports.

There seems to be partial healing of your fracture bit it has been more than a year in this condition.

I would get a new Xray done and look to see if the bridging bone has developed more now as compared to then.

If there is no sign of further healing then I would recommend revision of the surgery.

I want to have a look at your Xray film if possible, rather than the Reports, for me to be in a better position to help you.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Dr. Aashish Raghu

I did not have a communicated fracture see mri report from 12/4/2013. I had an intertrochantronic right hip fracture that was non displaced with edema. it was stable oblique pattern very small similar to a stress fracture. it was a complete break but still in alignment nothing had moved out of place and in good position. that's my question? the mri was done on 12/4/2013 in a open high field Hitachi 1.0 machine. it did not show any type of communities fracture or fragments. it did not show any signs of healing and it did not show any sclerotic bone formation. I do not have any diseases disorders osteoporosis multiple sclerosis problems or pageants disease no cancer nothing at all. no vitamin deficiency bone density is healthy above both normal ranges in both the t score and z score. the only mental health issues I had were mood disorders and high blood pressure. I weighed 236 pounds@the time of the surgery but the hospital weighed me wrong. I saw my primary care doctor on 11/26/2013 @ 11/8/2013 and I weighed 236 pounds. im trying to upload the actual mri x rays c t scans to you but I haven't heard back from customer support on how to zip these images from my scan disks and upload them. as you may know and mri takes many images and so . do c t scans. maybe you can help with contacting someone to call me. 513 330 3402.

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Electric simulation, Ultrasound stimulation, Bone make injection

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Sclerotic bone formation indicates possible callus formation which is good news. It indicates that healing of the fracture has commenced.

Stability of the fracture does not matter now because the Gamma nail had already been implanted and you are moving about.

If the healing if the fracture is inadequate after all this time then you may need to try other modalities like ultrasound stimulation electric stimulation of the fracture which can make it heal faster. Also injection of Bone narrow fluid can help speed up the healing.

Kindly discuss about these modalities with your treating surgeon ie Ultrasound, Electric stimulation and Bone narrow injection for impending non - union fracture treatment.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
