What Causes Secretion Of White Fluid From Gums?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jun 2016
Question: i can see white secretion from gums in the morning. i used antibiotics amoxillin and metrenidazole and it disappeared . i had also used povidine mouth wash during that time. now again after one week it is seen in lesser quantities. note that its mainly seen near gums in left back (inside) . no swelling or other complications. i also would like to bring to your notice that i have impacted bottom wisdom tooth both sides ( full bony). it had created problems earlier to adjacent teeth by cavities and both adjacent teeth were done root canal 8 years ago.. My age is 42 male and i am not sure that is should take out those impacted ones wihout any cause. can you advise whether this is a gum infection or is it normal. if its infection how can i sure it or suggest medicine or mouthwash / thanks

Brief Answer:
It can be a gum infection!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX

First of all thank you for approaching Healthcare magic for your queries.

I read through your query and I must tell you that there is nothing to be worried in this situation.

The white fluid can be pus from the gums due to gum infection. As you said it went away on taking antibiotics and again it appeared because symptom was only treated.

Cause of the pus was not treated. The cause may be plaque and calculus inside the gum or some food particles stuck in the gum. Remove the cause and then treat it with antibiotics. I suggest you to visit a dentist especially a periodontist and get it checked, go for scaling, curettage and root planing.

Other cause can be a decay in the tooth resulting in abscess in the root portion. For that treatment may be root-canal and crowning.

The treatment suggested by me is purely based on your symptoms. The clinical condition may require other treatment, so I would urge you to consult a periodontist and get yourself examined and treated accordingly.

Be cool and stay happy. There is solution for all problems.

Hope I have replied to your query. If you have more queries please write back to me.

Dear Doctor,

Thanks for the reply. it really helped. I am a little tense to go to doctor because of
this wisdom tooth issue. They may ask me to remove it. I dont think its advisable at my age. is there any medicine to keep this gum infection in check and not allowing to spread. Is it that harmful to my health if opt not to do scaling etc.

regards

Brief Answer:
Better visit the dentist

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Happy to see your rapid follow up! I read through your query. I suggest you to go to a dentist as it will be good for you. Regarding impaction if you are scared to remove it, you can tell the doctor not to remove it now (removal of impacted tooth does not have any age criteria, since it is not your chief complaint now it can be done later). But regarding the gum infection I will always suggest you to remove the cause and take medicine. Without the removal of cause the infection will reccur regularly. Why to simply put your body on antibiotics??( Too much antibiotics causes the resistance of microbe to antibiotic so that you have to take higher doses of antibiotics). If I was in your situation I would have visited the dentist and get it done. Scaling is good for your teeth as attached plaque and tartar will be removed. These things cannot be removed by brushing. It will make your gums healthy. I suggest you to go to dentist and get your problem solved than simply being on antibiotics. Hope my reply is convincing for you.If you have more queries please be free to ask. If you dont have queries please write a review about my reply. Have a healthy day!!!
