Question : I just went to the doctor because my ear has felt full for two months now. It is now crackling and pressure in my sinus. He is treating me with an oral steroid and an antibiotic. I have a weird sensation of hearing my heartbeat in my ear every once in a while. Is this related to my clogged eustacian tube. My doctor listened to my neck after I told him about the heartbeat/whooshing sound. Is this normal with eustacian tube blockage?
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is normal during Eustachian tube block...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
The sense of heartbeat in the ear is because of the presence of the fluid inside the middle ear which is conducting pulsations of the tiny blood vessels in the middle ear.
Do not worry! This is one of the common symptoms of middle ear effusion. Your doctor is on the right track. Please continue the current medications. Drink plenty of warm water, do steam inhalation and use saline nasal spray for nasal decongestion.
Hope I have answered your query; I'll be available for the follow up queries.
