What Causes Server Of Pain Behind The Ear And Down The Neck?

Timeline:
8pm eastern: got in my Jeep, started it up and it was stuck on the ice. I put the car into reverse and forward several times to no avail. A few times I turned my head to the left 90° to look at the back passenger tire to see if it was spinning. My uncle then tired a rope to the front of his car and to the back of my jeep. He backed up, I did as well and was able to get out of the space.
I drove home, parked the Jeep and went into the house. The pain was making its first real appearance at 9:30 pm.
I put my hair in rollers, took 2-500 MG of Naproxyn at 11pm. I laid down on my right side and began massaging my neck and the mastoid area. It has worsened! I'm feeling nauseated, I now have a migraine and an earache and am irritable!
What should I do? Should I go to the hospital?
Muscle sprain...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
After going through the query, I am of the opinion that you could be having muscular sprain of the sterno-mastoid muscle. The spasm of the muscle on sudden neck rotation can cause inflammation at the attachment area and thus the pain.
Do not worry! With appropriate measures you will feel better. My suggestions to you are:
1. Give rest for the neck
2. Apply warm compression over the affected region
3. Try taking OTC pain relievers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac
4. A muscle relaxant such as tizanidine or orphenadrine citrate will be beneficial
5. Application of local anti-inflammatory gel
With the above measures you will definitely feel better; if not, consult your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
