Brief Answer:
investigations, clinical evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific.
To recapitulate: male/66 - cramping - distended abdomen - for a week - thought of food poisoning - took Probiotics and Gatorade - no other symptoms...
This indicates one of the following:
Sub-acute intestinal obstruction
Sub-acute intestinal obstruction.
Intolerance.
I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation and examination, particularly auscultation.
X-ray of abdomen in standing position - helps to see obstruction.
Ultrasound of abdomen.
Tests of stool - to see for infection.
Tests of blood.
If infection is suspected- a course of an antibiotic. Continue Probiotics and Gatorade.

All these will confirm the proper diagnosis and gives a plan of proper management.
