What Causes Severe Back Pain And Leg Pain While On Levaquin?
Question: Last Friday my feet started hurting, making it difficult to bear weight, and since then my back is experiencing pain that I have never felt. I have been on Levaquin 3 times since November, and I know one of the side effects can be tendon rupture/tendonitis. Could this be what is happening to me? I am literally afraid to walk for fear I will fall, and when i am standing the back pain is very high....not something I am used to at all.

Brief Answer:
This is not tendon rupture but nerve compression
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. I can assure you that it is not a tendon rupture. It is most probably a nerve compression in spine which is causing back pain and leg pain. I would suggest you following.
1. Get spine x ray so that we can confirm the diagnosis.
2.Tablet pregabalin M should be taken at night time.
3.Hot water fomentation in back and leg.
4. Avoid forward bending and weight lifting .
I hope this answer will be useful for you. let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks

The foot pain started 3 days before the back pain kicked in. Should I continue with water aerobics and my reformer pilates? I do them on alternating days, and although the pilates is done on my back, it is with leg weights. Previous Xray of back (actually from a KUB) shows that all the lower discs are squashed down. I have shrunk 2" in the last 3 years as a result.
Brief Answer:
You should avoid exercises of back and feet
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Exercises in this condition can increase your back problem. So do not do any exercise at present. You need to take rest for fifteen days. After 15 days you can start back muscle strengthening exercises which you need to learn from a physiotherapist.
Avoid any weight lifting or travelling in future.
thanks
