Question : I have been experiencing an ache on the right side of my back in the generals area of my kidney, and discomfort on the flank for several days. I am 59 years old and in excellent health. I consider myself active and am not being treated for anything. I noticed yesterday a rash on the same side of my abdomen(lower rib). I also have a soft lump on my right flank at the lowest rib. It's about the size of a quarter and soft, no noticeable pain. I am currently on vacation and am not near my primary Doctor. I also have the feeling of gas pain on the right side that persists.

The discomfort in the back started about one week ago. I noticed the lump about 4 days ago and the rash about 2 days ago. No unitary issues, no burning etc. the rash does not itch

                                    Brief Answer:
Rash and lump may not be related
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
So you have three conditions.
1.lump
2.skin lesion
3.back pain
I would suggest you to take muscle relaxant like myoril or myospaz tablet twice daily. Keep a watch on skin lesion. If there is increase in lesions then you need to show it to dermatologist . Herpes can cause such lesion and back pain.in such case if dermatologist thinks it is herpes then he might suggest you to take acyclovir tablet.
As far as lump is concerned you need to get it ultrasound to check if it is Lipoma or any cyst. If it is Lipoma nothing needs to be done. If it is cyst then it might need excision.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if you have any other follow up questions.
Thanks
