Question : I have had two uti screening one positive with a neg culture one neg with a 10000 positive culture. I have read neither is enough to show infection.
Now I am suffering from moderate to severe back pain. I am confused and concerned by this. I was on cipro for 4 days and then was told to stop taking it because I was given IV rocifin.
At this point I am more confused and in pain. where do i go from here?

Brief Answer:
Any fevers?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Yes, the number of germs is not enough to diagnose a UTI. Also, the cipro and rocephin are good enough o treat at least 95% of all possible germs causing UTI. I don't really think this is a UTI. Between are you having any fevers? Have there been any changes in your urinary habits?

When did this pain start? Any pain when urinating?

Please, help provide the above information to help me provide more insights.

Brief Answer:
Hold on and complete them!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Let's not rush and miss out on something. Hold on and complete these antibiotics first. If they don't work, then the cause of your symptoms is unlikely to be a germ or an infection.

Keep me posted.

I only have 2 tabs left and the pain is almost intolerant

Brief Answer:
Then this is unlikely to be an infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

With intolerable pain, I suggest that we get in you again for thorough evaluation. I am now of the leaning that you should get a scan of the abdomen to look for other causes such as pancreatitis and kidney disease/stones. And infections seems unlikely at this time.

Keep me posted on this!
