Question: I am 48 years old and have had allergic rhinitis for as long as I can remember. Recently a pulmonologist analysed my lungs and told me that my problem is only in the upper respiratory tract and asked me to take Montair LC for as long as I need to . Now if I try to stop it, I get my cold back within a day and along with that itching all over the body. Please guide me what I should do.

Brief Answer:
You may continue it for as long as required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

It`s clear that you have allergy. There are many manifestations of allergy and different systems may be involved.

Since you have used seroflo in the past, you may have suffered from asthma which is also a type of allergy. It seems at present only manifestation of your allergy is allergic rhinitis and your asthma seems to be under control.

Montair LC is a commonly used drug for controlling allergy. It is safe with hardly any side effects. If it suits you, continue it for as long as required.

But when I stop using it even for a day I get severe itching at random parts of the body. Why is that? Before I started this medication I never had any problem of itching. Montair LC was only given to me because I had a perennial cold..

Brief Answer:
Montair LC masked the symptom of itching.

Detailed Answer:
As I said, there are various manifestations of allergy and a person can have different symptoms.

Itching is also a manifestation of allergy which probably was not expressed at the time when you had cold symptoms and remained masked thereafter as you were taking montair lc, a known anti allergen.

Hence it is advisable that you continue montair lc as it is a safe drug.
