Question : Hi, please help me. I'm taking Thyronorm 50 for hypothyroidism - my TSH counts were at 15.99 when I started two months back and now they're at 4.98, and FT3 and FT4 have always been okay. Lately I've been experiencing some burning in my throat, which I am GUESSING is because of acid reflux. I'm wondering if the medication could be causing this. What can I do about it? I've tried:
- Digene tablets
- ENO (causes temporary relief but that's all)
- Drinking more water
- Eating watermelon, cucumber and loads of yogurt
And it's not going away - always comes back and my throat burns a lot.
I'm ALSO using a nasal drop for my sinuses - just in case that's the cause.

Brief Answer:
Sounds like gastritis

Detailed Answer:
hi,
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible gastritis and Gerd.
The best medicine for this is rabeprazole 20 mg daily.
And thyroid medicines don't cause gastritis. What's more it's better not to stop the medicine.
I also recommend avoiding spicy food, non veg food, alcohol or coffee or tea.
Stick to vegetarian and bland diet.
Take plenty of fluids.
Avoid stress.
Test for H Pylori. if that is positive, antibiotics may be needed.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
