What Causes Severe Constant Pain In Upper Right Arm?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 May 2015
Question: For the last 2 days I have had severe and almost constant pain in my upper right arm-close to my shoulder. I did not have any injuries to this area, but do sleep on that side for the most part. What might the problem be?
Thank you for any assistance.

Brief Answer:
Spine disc problem can be the case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Most probable reason of such pain is usually changes in the spine. Due to nerves compression by spine disc or by some inflammation (can be caused by long sleeping on one side) nerves get irritated and give pain as a result. The pain should be worse during physical activity.
If you also have chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, heart issues should be considered.

I suggest you to try hot bath, massage, avoiding sleeping on this shoulder and Ibuprophen intake. If this will help, no need to consult a doctor.
Otherwise, you should consult orthopedist and consider spine MRI.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
