What Causes Severe Cough, Body Aches, Runny Nose, Headache, Chills And Night Sweats?
Question: i have had a cough for about 4 days, it hurts when i try to take a deep breath almost like my lungs are cold a runny nose headache sweats at night but chills during the day, little to no appetite and body aches. i have been taking ibuprofen and musinex but dont feel like im getting any better,,, is it time to see a doctor?

This is usually related to a viral infection but in some cases, there may also be a bacterial infection present which would require antibiotics.
There are different formulations of mucinex, you would need a mucolytic (break up the mucus) and decongestant at least which can be found in the mucinex fast XXXXXXX severe congestion and cough or the mucinex cold flu and sore throat.
The cough suppressant in these would reduce the coughing so that the muscles in the chest can get a break.
Plain mucinex only has the mucolytic so would not help to reduce any congestion in the sinuses or nose or decrease runny nose.
If you are using one of these an still having no relief then you should see your doctor for an assessment.
