What Causes Severe Cough With Light Yellow Sputum?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: why do I cough up light yellow phlegm daily? I also ache like I have the flu, this has been going on for over 6 months (Jan 8th), I have been to 5 doctors, they have run all sorts of blood tests, I have had a chest xray, an MRI, a stress test etc. One doctor said it was my age (I am 68). I have never been anything but healthy, I take a multivitamin, period! My tests show NOTHING. My energy has plummeted, they all offer drugs, I do not want drugs unless they can tell me I have disease "XYZ", and that drug will cure it.

Brief Answer:
Get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having chronic expectoration (since January).
So possibility of bronchitis is more in your case.
And for the diagnosis of bronchitis, PFT (pulmonary function test) is must.
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
So please let me know
1. Have you ever undergone PFT?
Please reply me answer of above asked question, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
