Question : What causes extreme cramping/spasms in upper abdomen and through the stomach and lower rib cage area?

                                    Brief Answer:
Gallstones or peptic ulcer.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
If the pain radiates to the back, gallstones are most probable reason.
If the pain does not radiate peptic ulcer is the reason. In both cases nausea and vomiting can be present.
Abdominal ultrasound and blood work should be done at first. Gastroscopy should be considered.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
