Question : i am having severe diarhia vomiting shortness of breath sweating for the last 6 hours i have taken over the counter meds to stop it not working i dont have a temp i have barretts esp.i think it might be food poisoning

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Severe diarrhoea,vomiting with shortness breath since 6 hours whatever may be the cause (whether it is drug induced or infective like gastroenteritis) but it should be treated promptly before patient go in hypovolemic shock (tachycardia, hypotension,rapid breathing, giddiness, fever etc).

You must undergo routine blood investigations,ESR and blood electrolytes,liver and kidney function tests,urinalysis and stool ,abdominal ultrasound to detect the underlying cause.

So,in my advice you should be given injectable antibiotics with fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy.

Here over the counter medications will not work.

I do not think so you should wait for more time,immediately go to ER and consult physician who will know about all the tests and can start immediate treatment.
