What Causes Severe Dry Mouth While Treating Normal Tension Glaucoma?
Question: Hi I am a healthy 37 y/o male. Only medication is latanoprost eye drops for normal tension glaucoma for the past 6 months. I don't smoke, use drugs and normally don't drink. However I drank heavily 1 week ago at a wedding. Ever since then I have had SEVERE dry mouth. No other symptoms but a canker sore now from dry mouth. This has never happened before. Any ideas about what might be happening and how to best treat it would be welcome

Hi I was anxious that alcohol could have triggered something like Sjogrens Syndrome. Is that possible based on literature? Thank you for your help.

There are so many things,other than sjogern's syndrome which can be triggered or may a a co incidental happening due to low immunity.Such single exposure doesn't per se cause sjogern's.
We have to keep viral infections in mind as well and the lesion you are noticing by the side of mouth can always be heroes simplex virus.
So to manage your condition for the time being ,heavy vitamins and treatment of local lesion by supportive treatment is the key.
Keep a close watch over your symptoms and any change can further help us to pinpoint the cause.
