Question : my husband is taking eliquis 5mg he is sxceedingly sleepy and tired. this is not normal for him.any suggestions

Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Eliquis can cause tiredness, drowsiness initially on initiation of therapy.
However, this goes away with time. So, if he has started Eliquis very recently, then he might get these issues, but if he is taking the medicine for long and recently started getting issues, then this requires evaluation of other causes.
So, i suppose you should wait for a while and if the problem persists, get his Hemoglobin, Thyroid profile. serum electrolytes done and in case, there is any associated lung or respiratory condition, he should get his Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis done to see for the any underlying carbon die oxide retention that might be causing drowsiness, tiredness and sleepiness.
