Question : I have severe foot pain in both feet I do not have diabetes and my Dr. prescribed nuerotin but it makes feel weird in my head when I take it. Is there any other medications that would not make me feel funny. I had a stroke 10 years ago and I take 7.5 mg of coumidin a day along with Lisinopril and Coreg? My Dr. can't seem to figure out what is the cause of my pain it is like electrical shocks shooting out the end of my toes and they hurt to stand on or walk for any length of time I have tried Accupuncture with no success. I am only 52 and and I don't want to live the rest of my life in excruciating pain.

Take amitryptyline
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The electric shock like pain in the foot indicates nerve pain. Diabetes is one of the common causes. But you do not have diabetes.
Neurontin is a good medication for nerve pain. But you say it has not helped and that you get a funny feeling when you take it.
It is unfortunate that you did not find good relief with acupuncture also.
Usually two group of medications are used to treat nerve pain - Anticonvulsants, and antidepressants.
Neurontin belongs to anticonvulsant group of medications. Since you do not find good relief with it, you can go to the next group of medications.
You can try amitryptyline for relief.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
