Question : Hello doctor,
I have been diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency with count of 20. Hence my doctor prescribed vitamin D3 injection after i could not digest any of the oral supplements over a period of six months. However after taking the injections i start experiencing severe gastric distress and bloating. Lately i have also been experiencing headaches. Kindly advise as to what i can take alongside the injection for my stomach trouble. I have a history of gastric trouble and was treated for anthral gastritis successfully about four years ago. I have also been on and off omez D following antibiotics and recurrent infections in a span of last two years.
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Screening for H Pylori infection is mandatory
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.
I can certainly understand your concerns.
First and foremost, it is important to test for serum vitamin D levels .Headache can be an important manifestation of vitamin toxicity.
With regards to gastritis, the possibility of recurrences due to a H Pylori infection is high.
This bacterium has to be screened for.
For this I advice you to get an endoscopic biopsy.
Further management if any is based on test results.
Complete eradication therapy for 21 days will help to prevent episodes of recurrent Gastritis.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
