What Causes Severe Gastritis After Taking Amoxicillin?

I had some skin infection similar to some allergy while I was traveling on work n I took citrizen h for 2 night n I was back to normal . I boarded a ac bus back to my home which was a good 5 hrs journey, they bus was cleaned with some chemical n I could feel burning sensation in eyes n smell was like some toilet cleaner. I came back n took a nice sleep n was normal. After two days I got dry cough I took otc cough tablets for 2 days but it was worsening, went a clinic doc gave anti allergy n amoxilin tab for 5 days but cough was not cleared. Then I went to an ENT specialist he gave medication of amoxilin n allergy with higher dose for 8 days then changed amoxilin to rutoheal-d n antiacid tab. After 21 days I get cough right after some time of food n sometimes get a negligible puking . Hence on his advice I took gastroscopy n there was impression gastritis. Now doc has given amoxilin tabs each day 4 tabs of 500 mg 2 each times after Bf n 2 after dinner + clerrothimic 2 tabs each day n anti acid 2 each day,
I took them for a day n half n have stopped cos m feeling too discomfort. My height is 5.11 n weight is 90 kgs. I do smoke n occasionally drink.
I never had such issue . I think as I took too much of medicine I have got gastritis impression in Antrum/ fundus rest things r normal.
I still get cough kindly suggest me how to get rid of it. I am following the food intake method suggested by u in ur previous treads hence I feel better but not completely ok.
Thank you !!!
Hope I have given enough info
Gastritis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I don't think your present condition is related to the travel. Dry cough is very common in gastritis, it is because of refluxing of the acid content of the stomach into your food pipe. The situation has worsened because of amox because it is known to cause severe gastritis.
Here is what I recommend
1. Stop smoking and drinking until you are better
2. Avoid milk and milk products including coffee and tea
3. Avoid spicy food
4. Eat smaller meals of upto 5 times a day. Do not consume heavy meals
5. Make sure you sleep 2 hours after dinner, do not sleep immediately after consuming food
6. Keep 2 pillows instead of 1 underneath your head while sleeping
7. Tab Esomeprazole 40 mg ( Tab Neksium) should be taken twice a day for 5 days and then once a day before food for 10 days. I suggest you to stop all other tablets
8. I am sure you will do better, however if the cough is persistent even after this I suggest you to get an X ray done
9. Try to lose weight, your ideal weight is 75-80 kg
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
