What Causes Severe Hand Tremors And Heart Palpitations While Having Anxiety?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: 49 YO female - have lost 15 lbs in 6 months, now weigh 115. Hand tremors, rapid heart rate(put on atenenol). Was diagnosed with Afib 5 months ago - Cardiologist beleives it may be caused by thryoid. Severe anxiety, tremors, insomnia, muscle weakness (getting worse and now affecting my swallowing) , heat intolerance. Blurred Vision. TSH level has dropped from 1.35 to .82. Free T4 1.15. Free t3 2.70. Had a Neck ultrasound showing 1 small irregular cystic nodule in right lobe and in lower pole. Thyroid uptake showed enlarged thyroid gland with diffuse increased activity and moderately elevated uptake values. My Endocrinologist says test values are not enough to warrant any treatment and thyroid uptake is not a reliable way to diagnose hyperthyroidism. Also antibody test for graves was negative. Is it possible that I am having hyperthyroid symptoms even if my labs aren't extreme. I cannot go on like this.

Brief Answer:
Tests won't warrant treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

Your thyroid function at present is normal. So at present there is no treatment needed for hyperthyroidism - which will worsen the situation. You can continue with cardiac medications to decrease your heart rate.

We cannot treat based in uptake scan reports.

It could still be early hyperthyroidism, do repeat the thyroid function after 1 month.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further questions, I will be pleased to help you.
