What Causes Severe Headaches?

Question: hi my name is May. I have a question concerning headaches, and 2 and half years ago I started getting some quite severe headaches, that some times would last for a few days, and sometimes I would get at least once every two days. the pain is sometimes beyond words to describe, that I would start crying even. Then pain was normally on my left closer towards my face and I would feel pressure on my left side on my eye and ears, then it kind of started moving towards the middle or centre of my head, and now it is still centered but on the right but lager area, when I'm not in pain I can still feel a slight difference of its location kind of like a numb but airy feeling. I can ease the pain some what by trying a tensor bandage around my head. sometimes I tried Advil extra strength but gave me heartburn, switched to reular strength 200mg caplets which seemed to help but I stopped taking it because at severe times I would take sometimes 4 every 3 hours sometimes almost a whole bottle of 16-24 caps and the pain would not go away. I am now taking Motrin Extra Strength for Migrians and it works for me a lot better for I only take 2 every 4-6 hours, for it keeps the headaches a little more tameable. but still not completely pain free. I noticed that on a few occasions I would feel quite hungry all the sudden and it would happen all the sudden, even if I had eaten 1 hour before hand, and when this would happen that seems to be when my headaches would be the most severe. I would start taking aspirin until it tamed down then have something to eat. and it would slowly go away. I also find that my body seems to over heat more quickly then before. sometimes when I feel a headache coming on I take a cold shower, running the coldest that I can take it around my head feels and works awesome but only temporarily. for when I get out I heat up again and the headache comes back...is there a name or condition that match my symptoms, is it a sign I maybe diabetic?? could it be something worse?? I am 39 years old never had these reoccurring symptoms before, although I did seem to have a tooth abscess, that had went pretty far up the gum for it tunneled its way to the left side of the roof of my mouth and made a little whole that is covered but I was able to press on it with my tongue and it would drain the abscess back to my tooth resulting in spitting it out. I tell u this because after the abscess went away I still have that tunnel in the roof of my mouth and it is visible if you look inside ( I checked using mirrors , also had my mom take a look.) but the is a black spot now where the the tunnel is. and when this had happened that is around the same time my headaches first started...could this be something or am I just going crazy. please tell me what it might possible be?

Brief Answer: CT scan of brain and paranasal sinuses Detailed Answer: Hi.Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query. I were to do a CT brain and paranasal sinuses to rule the possibility of abscess in paranasal sinuses( spread of infection from roof of mouth) which will address your current problem. CT will also rule out any anatomical cause for left sided headache which is intolerable-migraine headache and helps to plan the management. Montrin, aspirin and advil are NSAID's which cause gastritis if taken regularly and used as an addon therapy for migraine.I were to investigate the cause and start the treatment accordingly & caution longterm use of these medications. Hope this answers your query.
